Natural efficiency

Gases help reduce the effects of production processes on our environment. The gas that has been so widely discussed recently, CO2, presents a number of interesting possibilities in this regard.

Many industrial operations generate process water. In order to clean it so it can be used again, it is treated with carbon dioxide (CO2). Liquid CO2 reacts like a mild acid, but does not increase the salinity of the water. Municipal water treatment plants often add oxygen in order to intensify the natural biological cleaning process of the water.

In the recycling of refrigerators, which contain CFCs, a process using carbon dioxide takes care of liquefying the propellants, which are harmful to the climate. The latter are then trapped, so that they cannot escape into the atmosphere. And gases also put their natural advantages to good use in the purification of flue gases and in waste treatment.
