Analyzing and breathing

Whether as a diagnostic aid or as part of therapeutic treatments: gases are an indispensable element in many fields of modern medicine.

The gases used for medical purposes are just as varied as their applications. Helium cools MRI scanners, oxygen is used in respiratory therapy, and liquid nitrogen and oxygen provide temperatures down to minus 160 degrees Celsius in cryotherapy.

And no modern hospital operates without gases, of course. In order to have a sufficient quantity of them available, many hospitals have their own central gas supply system. Gases used in the healthcare sector must meet extremely high purity standards.
